Acid Reign

Acid Reign were a British thrash metal band formed in 1985. The group was active until 1991, when they disbanded.

Acid Reign’s line-up for the most of the time was Mark Ramsey (drums and keyboards), Adam Lehan (guitars), Mac (bass), Kev (guitars), and Höwärd Smïth (or H) (vocals). At one point, future Cathedral member Gary “Gaz” Jennings also played guitar with the band. After they disbanded, Kev moved on to join Lawnmower Deth, under the monicker “Baron Kev Von Thresh Meister Silo Stench Chisel Marbels”.

Acid Reign were a fairly typical thrash metal outfit. They were visibly influenced by bands such as Anthrax and Metallica. Lyrically, the group tackled a multitude of issues, ranging from the criticism of contemporary society on “Creative Restraint” and the anti-nuke message of “Joke Chain” to the b-movie science fiction of “Phantasm” and to downright silliness, as on the CD bonus track for their album Obnoxious, “This Is Serious”.

Faustus

A Seattle thrash metal band formed in the early 90’s. Blending elements of traditional metal with thrash, and death metal, the band describes themselves as sounding like a cross between Iron Maiden and Judas Priest with dashes of Carcass and Anthrax. With “…And Still We Suffer” released in ‘92, Faustus is now currently working on their second major release after a 15 year hiatus. After all that time, their debut album still manages to generate interest. While some might term their style of thrash obsolete, Faustus continues to impress with their musical precision and talent.

Tysondog

Tysondog were a English heavy metal band formed in Newcastle, in the year 1983 during the NWOBHM boom. They quickly signed to Neat Records and issued their debut single ‘Eat the Rich’ that same year. 1984 saw their first full-length, ‘Beware of the Dog,’ which was produced by none other than Cronos of Venom. Cronos even perfomed backing vocals on the track “Demon” (listen for him in the chorus). An EP, ‘Shoot to Kill’ was released in 1985, and was followed the next year by the ‘Crimes of Insanity’ LP, which, along with the single and Alice Cooper cover ‘School’s Out,’ received a lukewarm reception. Thrash metal had come to dominate the metal underground, and Tysondog, frustrated by declining popularity and several personnel difficulties, split up. Castle released ‘Painted Heroes’ in 2002, a collection of both full-length albums and the ‘Shoot to Kill’ EP.
